I didn't take nearly as many pictures on Isla this time around. Due to the stress of selling my house, I just wanted to pretty much do nothing while I was there. I took in the sun, read a book, and had a "few" cervezas and margaritas to recharge my batteries. This post is just some random shots. I will do one more Isla post after this on some Playa Norte shots which everyone is always interested in seeing. I will say that it looked better than I've ever seen it, but will go into more detail in that post.
I had to catch the 9 a.m. ferry on my last day, and was very glad to see that Cafe Cito was open by 7:30 that morning for my last breakfast on Isla.
I love the lemonade there...AND the tables.
And their jam is to die for. I can't remember what's in it, but I just love it.
I think the fruit and veggie lady has a young apprentice...
...because when I left, she was there all by herself...
The street in front of Capitan Tony's house was blocked off for people paying their respects for the passing of his father. There were many people coming and going for this sad event.
When I was walking around the day before, I noticed another new hotel. The Bahia Chac Chi is located directly across from the Justicia Social...so I went in to check it out.
Lobby...
Little bar in the lobby area...
Cute little pool behind the lobby area...
This is what you see when you look up...
The desk clerk was very anxious to show me a room in the hopes that I would change hotels. (Thanks, but I think three hotels in one week's time is enough for me.) You can't tell from the photo, but the room looked out over the water...definitely a nice view.
And the bathroom...
The sign in the lobby said the rooms were $110, but she said they give you a deal if you are staying more than one night. It was a cute little place, but I think it may be another case of not getting those Isla vibes if you'd stay there.
Some miscellaneous food shots. Huevos Motulenos as Tacostumbras. I always get this dish several times while I'm there because you can't get it in the states.

The little loncherias by the market were always busy when I went past. I thought Isla would be kind of slow while I was there, but it was actually pretty crowded...and most of the tourists were Mexicans visiting from other areas of Mexico. There were many non-American tourists as well...I heard quite a few different languages being spoken.
Pico de gallo from Justicia Social...
Crabs from Valesquez (I think). I didn't know what I was going to get when I ordered this...and was disappointed, but that's my fault for not knowing. There's very little meat in these and takes too much work to get what little there is.
Lobster at Picus. Delicious...
More random shots...
This looked like a really nice private home. If I remember correctly, it's a couple houses up from La Lomita.
When I was on Isla a little over a year ago, this place looked like it was vacant, but it was freshly painted this time.
Some of the mural art on the walls in the market...
I liked this color contrast...
I bought a batik from this friendly guy. This is at the north end of Hidalgo. Notice the new blue posts blocking the street?
This was taken in May of 2008...
And this is what it looks like now...quite a difference. I never ate there.
Saw these bad boys cooking on the beach one day...
Whenever I see these, I wonder if people actually buy them...
But I guess they do!
They fixed the hole that I showed in my first post!
This was a common site the whole time I was there...
Some "I love the flowers on Isla" shots...
And here's some for the ladies. HaHaHaHa! Normally, I wouldn't take this kind of picture, but I just couldn't help it this time. I try to give people their privacy, but this guy was definitely "struttin' his stuff" on the beach that day. He'd walk around real slow, throw his towel on the beach, saunter into the water, turn around and "pose," then walk down another 100 feet and do it again. (And, no, I didn't follow him...lol.) The ladies sitting next to me thought he was pretty "entertaining" as well. (I blurred out his face to protect his identity.)

LMAO! The pouch! Quite the stud! I love ALL the photos Deb! So much has changed since I was there in May 2008. And now I can't wait until October!
I noticed on one of the booking sites yesterday that the new Bahia had finally listed low season rates for their rooms. I can't believe they waited that long. I can't remember the exact pricing, but it was a significant reduction for low season rooms. (I'd still rather stay on the opposite side of the island and hear the crashing waves.) It's the perfect storm for all these new rooms opening right in the middle of the slowest season in years.
Anyway, love all your photos and can't wait to see the beaches! Thanks for taking the time to post in the middle of your move!
I sure enjoy reading your blog , specially this post . The food's are some of my favorites and the photo's really made me hungry .
Great post !
Now THATS a hunka-hunka a burnin' luv !!haha

Wow, Deb - what a parting shot. LOL! Thanks for posting. Hope you're settling into your new place.
I just bought the camera you have b/c my Canon S3 is bulky, and I wanted a compact one that would fit in my purse. I chose the Lumix b/c of the amazing zoom for such a small camera, the Leica lens, and the large, clear LCD. I look forward to taking it to Isla - and to your next installment!
Well we all learn something from your posts....I'll have to get rid of my Speedo and get myself a set of Stud Duds. I missed the lobster the last time I was there...Boo Hoo. Good post!
Beck - For some reason, I thought you would enjoy this post...especially being the "rabble-rouser" I am. LOL
Star - Thanks! I am already missing the Isla food!
Carl/Debbie - I literally laughed out loud when I read your comment. How true!
Vee - The Leica lens was one of the biggest reasons I bought that camera...although mine's the bulky older model. Definitely not a pocket size. I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures you take with it!
Gil - Can't wait to see you in the Stud Duds...after which you'll be the next feature in my blog!
Thanks, Deb! Great photos & commentary as usual....can't wait for more!
LMAO I'm sooo glad you took that final shot. How respectful of you to blur his face but I think we could all recognize him.
Thanks, Ann! And, Jeanie...I thought the same thing when I blurred his face. I don't think anyone was looking at his face anyway! He'd be a hard one to miss. LOL
That was absolutely hilarious! What a hunk...or chunk...or whatever :-).
As always, I really enjoyed your photos, well done! LOVE the flowers. (I have been reading your blog for a long time but never commented until recently)
Some friends looked at a room at the Bahia this past winter, they noticed there were no chairs on the balcony. The employee told them they could take the chair out of the room, which happened to be some sort of red overstuffed type chair. Odd!
Jan - You're right...I didn't even think about the fact that there weren't any chairs on the balcony. These new places just haven't figured the whole "Isla" thing out yet...and probably never will. Glad you enjoyed the "hunk"...lol. I think some people just need to stand in front of a mirror once in awhile.
That photo of the pico de gallo is cookbook quality! The fish one is great too. Wonderful macros!
