Miscellaneous Isla...

First of all, I want to thank everyone for the comments on my blog. When I got back home, I had to move into my apartment on Thursday and work on Friday, so my life has been a bit hectic and I haven't had time to respond to comments. Thanks to my regular viewers and to new visitors. And, Vee...to answer your question, I have a 12x zoom Panasonic Lumix, but am thinking of upgrading to a Canon G10. My friend has one and I really like the features and quality of photos.

I didn't take nearly as many pictures on Isla this time around. Due to the stress of selling my house, I just wanted to pretty much do nothing while I was there. I took in the sun, read a book, and had a "few" cervezas and margaritas to recharge my batteries. This post is just some random shots. I will do one more Isla post after this on some Playa Norte shots which everyone is always interested in seeing. I will say that it looked better than I've ever seen it, but will go into more detail in that post.

I had to catch the 9 a.m. ferry on my last day, and was very glad to see that Cafe Cito was open by 7:30 that morning for my last breakfast on Isla.

I love the lemonade there...AND the tables.

And their jam is to die for. I can't remember what's in it, but I just love it.

I think the fruit and veggie lady has a young apprentice...

...because when I left, she was there all by herself...

The street in front of Capitan Tony's house was blocked off for people paying their respects for the passing of his father. There were many people coming and going for this sad event.

When I was walking around the day before, I noticed another new hotel. The Bahia Chac Chi is located directly across from the Justicia Social...so I went in to check it out.

The desk clerk was very anxious to show me a room in the hopes that I would change hotels. (Thanks, but I think three hotels in one week's time is enough for me.) You can't tell from the photo, but the room looked out over the water...definitely a nice view.

The sign in the lobby said the rooms were $110, but she said they give you a deal if you are staying more than one night. It was a cute little place, but I think it may be another case of not getting those Isla vibes if you'd stay there.

Some miscellaneous food shots. Huevos Motulenos as Tacostumbras. I always get this dish several times while I'm there because you can't get it in the states.

The little loncherias by the market were always busy when I went past. I thought Isla would be kind of slow while I was there, but it was actually pretty crowded...and most of the tourists were Mexicans visiting from other areas of Mexico. There were many non-American tourists as well...I heard quite a few different languages being spoken.

Crabs from Valesquez (I think). I didn't know what I was going to get when I ordered this...and was disappointed, but that's my fault for not knowing. There's very little meat in these and takes too much work to get what little there is.

When I was on Isla a little over a year ago, this place looked like it was vacant, but it was freshly painted this time.

And here's some for the ladies. HaHaHaHa! Normally, I wouldn't take this kind of picture, but I just couldn't help it this time. I try to give people their privacy, but this guy was definitely "struttin' his stuff" on the beach that day. He'd walk around real slow, throw his towel on the beach, saunter into the water, turn around and "pose," then walk down another 100 feet and do it again. (And, no, I didn't follow him...lol.) The ladies sitting next to me thought he was pretty "entertaining" as well. (I blurred out his face to protect his identity.)

I guess you gotta admire his positive self-image!
