When I plant flowers in the summer, I try to duplicate the ones I see in Mexico. Every time I go out or come home, I am always a little amazed by my beautiful Bougainvillea...a little reminder of my adventures south of the border. Sure, it's pretty small...
...compared to this beauty in Puerto Morelos, but I marvel at the vibrant color, especially considering the scorching rainless heat in Texas these days.
If I stood out in the sun for 12 hours every single day in 100+ temps, I guarantee I would not look this good.
I wish I was in Mexico.

Don't we all! ( Wish we were in Mexico...) We were with a group of friends last night & 1/2 the group were talking about retiring & moving to MX--a big dream of lots of us. Very pretty flowers.
Thanks, Ann. Hopefully, one of these days, right?
Deb, bouganvillea loves heat! If you plant it on walls that get the baking afternoon summer heat in Phoenix, it thrives! We have a variety called torchglow in our yard which doesn't have the dreaded thorns. Bouganvillea does freeze, but if you cut it back to the ground, it comes back. It's one tough plant! And yes, I wish I was in Mexico! I wish we'd sold our house in Washington State in 2006 and just retired to Isla then.
