I don't know whether Joe's Crab Shacks are only in Texas...no one we know in other states has ever heard of it. So, anyway...here's Jeff and Erica. I missed the opportunity to catch them putting food in their mouths this time...which I'm sure they're grateful for.
And here's Jared and me...all equipped with our bibs and crab eating tools because we ordered the big "crab fest" deal.

We sat outside because we wanted to enjoy the balmy Texas temperatures of about 105 degrees. These were the views from our table. (This is Lady Bird Lake on the south side of Austin.)
Here's my meal. I ordered two kinds of crab with clams.
Jeffrey ordered coconut shrimp.
And Jared ordered two kinds of crab with shrimp...which looks pretty identical to mine...
Except for these...
Jeffrey had never had clams so he wanted to try mine. He likes shrimp and crabs, but doesn't like things that taste too fishy. He said the clam tasted like ocean-flavored bubble gum. I guess he's not too much into clams. But everything was muy bueno and Jared and I were a mess by the time we were done. It's one of those meals where you feel like you need to take a shower afterwards.
Unfortunately, Erica is allergic to shellfish, so I didn't take a picture of the hamburger she ordered. She showed me the turtles that live in the lake. Whoa...they're a tad dirty, but worth a picture.

Great food photos Deb! You're killing me! Love to have some crab or shrimp right now! I think there was a Joe's Crab Shack in Bellevue, WA for a short period of time, but the location was bad. That food looks mighty tasty (except the clams, but I've never been a fan)!
Hope the closing happens soon--or at least gets scheduled! Great food photos! I'm not a great seafood fan myself ( I know--lots available around here!)my favorite is swordfish & I had kabobs on Fri! Alan is allergic to some --swordfish, shrimp--so I try & get it when we go out to eat....
Joes crab shak in Ohio.
Deb, i hope next trip you finally order that cold beer i've been hounding you about:-))

Looks like great eating to me, all of it. And those geese - how odd! I've never seen anything quite like them Inbred geese? The things I learn from my blogging friends, lol!
Gosh, it sure looks like you had a great time . and yum on the food.. One of my favorite hobbies is being a terror of the crustacean nation too ,,Glad you had an AWAY DAY.
There was a Joe's Crab Shack in Northwest Indiana also. It was a fun place to eat, specially on birthdays . Great photos , now I'm hungry again...
Beck - The food WAS tasty...although I'll have to admit it was pretty overpriced for what you got. It'll be awhile before I go there again.
Ann - Yeah, you live in the wrong place for not liking seafood...ha! That's one of my favorite reasons to visit my aunt in Connecticut.
Carl - Gosh darn it...I had a couple of Dos Equis, but silly me forgot to take a picture. Okay...next time I will make a point to get a beer shot...sorry.
Vee - Isn't that the truth about learning things from blog friends? It just opens up a whole new world...how fun!
Barry - I know what you mean about the curstacean deal. And after a half hour of pulling apart crab legs, you kind of get that cave man feel...although I doubt whether they had melted butter for dipping.
Star - Thanks for visiting my blog...and for the compliment on the photos!
